Peggie's 30-year career in nonprofit management encompasses
a breadth of skills and experience in general management, operations,
programming, artist booking, development, and marketing.
Peggie is currently the executive director
of Hoyt Arboretum Friends Foundation in Portland, Oregon. Previously
she served for seven years as executive director of Mazamas,
a mountaineering education nonprofit.
From 1996 to 1999, Peggie was Artistic
Administrator for the Chicago
Symphony Orchestra where she engaged conductors
and soloists for a 32-week subscription season, produced a fully-staged
Fidelio conducted by Daniel Barenboim and planned Day
of Music, a 24-hour, multi-venue music marathon which attracted
20,000 patrons to Symphony Center.
From 1985 to 1996, she was Orchestra Manager
(artistic administrator/operations director) for the Oregon Symphony
where, in addition to planning the classical, pops, family and
kids' series, she created innovative audience development concerts
and an extensive regional touring program which received a record
$750,000 challenge grant from the National Endowment for the
Arts. While at the Oregon Symphony Peggie collaborated
with Peter Jacobson Productions, Inc. to produce Rhapsody
On Ice, a spectacular skating event which featured
top American Olympic contenders skating to live symphonic music.
In 1985 Peggie managed special events at
Pioneer
Courthouse Square, "the heart of downtown Portland,"
which produces over 300 events annually.
From 1980 to 1984, she was Resident Production
Stage Manager for Portland
Opera and stage-managed opera and dance throughout
the United States.
Peggie holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree
in Music and Sociology, and received a full scholarship to the
University of Southern California Opera Workshop.
